Not hitting your goals? Rule #1: Repetition beats perfection.

Not hitting your goals? Rule #1: Repetition beats perfection.

If you want to change anything in your life – change your habits.

Many people who are not on track to achieving their goals did not choose their habits carefully and consciously. Everything desirable may only be achieved through persistence. Getting fit, losing weight, becoming rich, learning a new language and everything else is the result of continuous efforts, not of one-time actions.

We need to wake up from the autopilot we are in most of the time. We eat, drink, scroll, procrastinate mindlessly, ignoring the fact that every repeated behavior leads somewhere – either good or bad. We need to reflect whether what we do on a daily basis aligns with our vision of the future.

It’s no secret how to become fit or rich or anything else. Most of us just don’t know how to be consistent at it.

The first rule is: Repetition beats perfection.

To make any lasting change in our lives, we first need to change our minds. We need to upload the desired behavior to our autopilot, so that its execution becomes the default. To tweak the brain means to repeat the target behavior over and over again. For this, execution does not have to be perfect. You can sacrifice the time or effort of individual executions, but you should never sacrifice execution frequency!

Observe yourself. Tweak yourself. Master yourself.
